I’ve been a journalist for the last 14 years. I’m currently a freelance editor, writer, communications specialist and social media consultant.
I was the editor of the Journal of Commerce for 8.5 years before the local editor position was eliminated. The Journal was a business-to-business publication focussed on construction in Western Canada. In addition to writing, photography and layout duties, I shot video and uploaded content to the website. I also developed and implemented a social media strategy and was part of a team that maintained the publication’s social media presence.
Before my time with the Journal of Commerce, I worked in community journalism. I was the Editor of the Hinton Parklander, a weekly newspaper in Hinton, Alta. Before that, I worked at a variety of publications in the Lower Mainland and on Vancouver Island.
